Join us for the Bloomington Sex Salon with special guest Dr. Jody Madeira for a conversation about fertility fraud. Perhaps you've seen the various cases around the world that have come to light, cases where fertility doctors have impregnated their female patients with their own sperm. (Not telling their patients at the time that the sperm was their own.) In an age of DNA testing and internet connections, "donor children" are finding one another. Dr. Madeira is actively involved in research related to these issues as well as in legislation related to "fertility fraud." Dr. Madeira has also published work on fertility treatments. Her most recent book is "Taking Baby Steps: How Patients and Fertility Clinics Collaborate in Conception (University of California Press, 2018)."
Arrive early, grab a drink and a seat in the back room of the Bishop. We will start promptly at 8pm. The Bloomington Sex Salon is free, open to those age 18+, and is a casual event meant to foster campus-community conversations about sexuality topics, broadly speaking. The Salon is hosted by local sex researcher/educator Dr. Debby Herbenick.
