French-American post-punk outfit DTCV was formed in Los Angeles in 2012 by Guylaine Vivarat (ex-Useless Keys, Tennis System), James Greer (ex-Guided By Voices), and Chris Dunn, a recent transplant from Chicago. Known for its incendiary live shows, the group has been compared variously to Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, and "post-Nico Velvet Underground with Debbie Harry on vocals."
DTCV has thus far released two EPs, Very Fallen World and Basket of Masks. A full length album, However Strange, was released in late August 2012 on cassette by Burger Records to coincide with a national tour opening for Guided By Voices in September. All three of these earlier releases were reissued in January 2014 by Mock Records under the title The Early Year. The groop recently released Hilarious Heaven, an ambitious (read: contains free jazz saxophone skronk and flute solo(s), a piano ballad in French, synth-pop, a Monks cover, and two songs that surpass the eleven minute mark) double album recorded by Steve Kille of Dead Meadow, on Xemu Records. The brilliant artwork was supplied by Robert Pollard of Guided By Voices. DTCV will be touring extensively throughout 2014 in support of both Hilarious Heaven and The Early Year. (The title for the former was taken from James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake. FYI.)

Spaceships is Jessie Waite & Kevin LaRose.
Once, we were thinking about starting a band and that didn’t work out. Then a couple years later we tried again, and that wasn’t happening either. Then, we tried a third time, and we somehow managed to pull together Spaceships.
Spaceships is a band that plays noise-pop-bedroom-garage-punk. We write songs about life, mountains, and also other things like death and working. We’ve been compared to Times New Viking, Black Sabbath, and Guided By Voices.
A couple of months ago, we decided to record an LP. So that’s done now. It’s called “Cool Breeze Over the Mountains” which is actually Keanu’s name translated from, I think, the Hawaiian language. We love Keanu, and we think the world fails to understand him. We are not being ironic or facetious when we say that. Stop failing Keanu, world.
Our picture and/or some words about our music have been featured in LA Weekly, LA Record, Buzzbands, Spin (only the iPAd app edition, so don’t get too worked up), Passion of the Weiss, and once this blog from Spain wrote about us and we got about 700 downloads, but that site shut down :( . Our songs are frequently played on KXLU, the best radio station.
We like to play lots of shows, even if sometimes we don’t feel like going out cuz we’re too sad. We’ve got an awesome one coming up in Palm Springs. I hear there’s a pool and we are going to get drunk out of our minds.
Oh, we have also released an EP and a 7″. Guess what? We also have a music video, and another one is in “pre-production.” They both star us cuz it’s our band and we can’t afford Keanu.
